Welcome to Blue Ridge High School!

    Dear Students and Families:

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! A lot of exciting changes are coming our direction. This will be my full 3rd year as the principal of Blue Ridge High School. Our commitment at BRHS is to provide a safe and intellectually challenging environment that will empower students to become innovative thinkers, creative problem solvers and inspired learners prepared to thrive in the twenty-first century.

Together, we will build an organization where all staff is valued, supported, and empowered, all students are given a nurturing environment with quality educational experiences, and parents and the community are passionately recruited to become fundamental components of the learning process. Each and every single student must be provided the very best education; prepared to face a future that is ever evolving. My vision is to have the parents, community, district, and staff members effectively prepare students to reach their utmost potential and to achieve excellence and long life success.

High standards and expectations for each student in regard to academic performance, co-curricular participation, and responsible citizenship are the foundation of our school. It is with pride that we hold these high standards and ask each of our students to commit to maintaining the extraordinary record of achievement and contribution that has been the legacy of Blue Ridge High School students. Full participation in academic and co-curricular programs and a willingness to act responsibly as an individual within our educational environment are the factors that enable all to have a successful and enjoyable year. We are a district that was a TEA 2009-2010 Exemplary School and a 2012 Blue Ribbon campus. It is the contribution of our students to our school community that makes Blue Ridge High School an exceptional learning community.

High school is a time of a change. It is an exciting time, but it can also be challenging with the increase in workloads and the social adjustment. TIGERS, I encourage you to do the following so you can be successful in high school:

Communicate with others in a respectful and meaningful way.
Pose questions, examine possibilities, and challenge yourself to find solutions.
    Surround yourself with positive people.
Make positive choices related to physical and mental wellness; and
Contribute to our school community in a collaborative respectful manner.

    Parents, please make time to:

Ask your student(s) specific questions about their time at school.  For example, “What was the most interesting thing you did in math class today?” or “Tell me about your science experiment?”
Use txConnect early and often. This will give you relevant information regarding your child’s performance on their homework, a test or quiz as well as their attendance. Your interest and concern in their school progress will motivate them to do their best.
Communicate with your child’s teachers and staff members to establish a successful home/school connection.  All of our teachers have classroom websites with their contact information, homework assignments, and useful resources.

If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me and know that my door is always open. I am excited for the opportunity to work with you and your student to provide a productive and safe learning environment that supports student success.  Once again, welcome to Blue Ridge High School! I am honored to serve as your principal.
